Transforming mental healthcare
Journey to Self LCSW PLLC, founded by Ismery Lora, was established to bridge the gap in mental health services for marginalized individuals, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and immigrants. Recognizing the mental health challenges faced by clients, especially those involved in immigration proceedings and dealing with trauma, Ismery created a practice offering affordable, bilingual, and culturally appropriate evaluations and therapy. The practice is committed to providing non-discriminatory, client-centered, decolonized, and abolition-focused care.
A holistic approach
Journey to Self LCSW PLLC was founded by Ismery Lora, drawing from her extensive experience in social work with marginalized individuals and culturally diverse communities. Ismery noticed that many of her clients facing deportation were experiencing significant mental health challenges due to trauma caused by detention, persecution, community violence, child labor, and lack of education, among other factors. She also observed the difficulty in finding bilingual professionals qualified to conduct evaluations for asylum seekers or guide them through immigration proceedings. Many of these individuals, due to their immigration status, were unable to access mental health services, leaving their needs unmet.
To address this gap, Ismery established Journey to Self LCSW PLLC, providing affordable, high-quality mental health services to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, immigrant, and other marginalized communities. The practice offers culturally appropriate evaluations and assessments for individuals involved in immigration proceedings, as well as individual therapy services. Importantly, the practice does not discriminate against clients based on prior criminal convictions.
Journey to Self LCSW PLLC is committed to offering bilingual mental health services that are high-quality, client-centered, decolonized, and abolition-focused.
